Gah, FML!
So, of the 5 weekdays I had off last week, I went to
the gym 4 times. According to my heart rate monitor, I burned 1000 cals
in about an hour and a half each time. However, my weight didn't really
go down that much. I think I may have even put a little bit on. Can't
remember for sure; I think my mind is trying to forget it out of shame
and frustration.
There was a little turn of events with the reno
at my work, so I ended up with this full week off too. And today is the
2nd weekday and I have not been to the gym once. I had a tattoo
appointment during the early afternoon (will post pix later) and then
ended up having dinner with a friend instead of gyming in the evening
yesterday. And today, I was babysitting and then gave blood in the
evening, so that kinda ruled out today. I think I'll be able to make it
for the next 3 days though. At least I'll try. I'm going dancing with a
friend tomorrow night, so that should burn some cals either way.
There's
a tanning place right beside the blood clinic in the mall and they had a
sign out about some aloe vera wrap treatment that claims it can help
you shrink between 6 and 20 inches in a single wrap. I got a pamphlet on
it and read it and it seems interesting. I didn't found out how much it
costs, but if it's a decent price, I'll try anything once. They offer
free consultations, so maybe I'll get one and take it from there. Maybe
losing several inches will be a good kick in the pants.
I'm also
thinking I should really have an only fruit and veggies day soon, just
to cleanse myself a little. And I need to get back into drinking Crystal
Light. I haven't had it in a while.
So, ya, that's all for now.

Sun. December 2
(Blogging 2 days in a row? Oh em gee! lol)
K, so, I don’t want to use the word epiphany cuz that’s not right, but I had a… thought.
I was at a grocery store last night with a friend and we happened to walk down the pop aisle and it was pretty picked over cuz there was a sale on (2L bottles). There were several bottles of Fresca left and, I have no idea why, I was compelled to look at the nutritional value. And it claimed to have 0 cals per serving. I coulda sworn it would’ve had about the same cals as a Coke or Sprite (maybe less), but I had no idea it was 0 cal. It made me want to buy it and my friend said “go for it”, but I countered with “noooo, but it’s pop”. It even said on the label “zero-calorie soda”.
Now, I haven’t had pop since February ‘11; partly cuz it’s a healthy decision and partly cuz it’s fun to tell people “I don’t drink pop” and have them look at you like you’re crazy. lol. Buuuuut the thought has crossed my mind to drink diet pops again cuz I’ve heard people say you shouldn’t “drink your calories”, but these drinks have next to no cals. So, here are all the points to consider…
- Diet pops have no calories, but is it really worth it if they taste crappy and watered down? I’d almost rather have a Coke with all the flavour and cals than some blah Diet Coke
-In my mind, I consider Fruitopia and Iced Tea pop. I don’t consider Gatorade or juices pop though, even though they have similar cals and sugar levels and I would still drink those beverages (not so much the Gatorade though).
- I’m not really concerned with aspartame or low cal fake sugars cuz I drink Crystal Light (which obviously contains that) and I consider that ok.
So, ya, bit of a personal dilemma. Gonna have to think it over and maybe make Fresca a once in a while thing. I’ll see.

Sat. December 1
I dunno why I always leave posting updates til it's pretty late and I'm really tired. Oh well.
So, today was the first of 12 days off from work. All I did today was get snakebite piercings and then go to a Toronto Marlies hockey game right after. Didn't really make great food choices or get that much physical activity (if you don't count yelling and getting antsy at the hockey players, lol). Tomorrow probably won't be a good day either, but come Monday, I really want to be hitting up the gym every (week)day. Maybe twice on some days, if a friend decides to go later in the evening. I picked up some more yogurt and fruit, so I should be ok on the food front. I just need to make sure I can kick and re-motivate my ass everyday. Cuba is less than 80 days from now.

Fri. November 23
I think I might need to make eating salads a restaurant only thing from now on.
I bought some romaine lettuce a couple days ago, so I decided to have a salad for dinner tonight. I added a little cheese, threw a couple pieces of bacon in the microwave (for crumbling) and had the dressing on the side for dipping. Everything about it was fine, except the dressing. It hadn't gone bad, it just didn't taste good. And this is not the first time this has happened.
Whenever I would have salad at home in the past, the only dressing brand we had was Kraft. It was alright-ish, but then tried the Renee's brand and liked that much better. But, in the last little while, I've started to dislike that brand too. I've probably mentioned this before, but the only salad I will eat is caesar. Ranch would probably be an extreeeeeemly far 2nd choice. But there are some restaurants who have caesars I really like; Wacky Wings, Jack Astor's, Kelsey's. I went to Applebee's last night and got the salad and the dressing really left something to be desired. I should ask these restaurants what brands they use and see if sell them in stores. Or maybe see what other brands are out there and if I can find one for home use that I find palatable. We'll see.
On a side note, my friggen wrist is hurting again today. Balls!

Thu. November 22
Sometimes, I really dunno how to start these things.
So, since figuring out approximately how many days til Cuba, I had actually put on a few lbs. I'm not gonna act like I dunno where I those lbs came from. I know me and my eating are extremely far from perfect. But I was able to lose those few lbs and I was decent-ish tonight, so I'm hoping for a little more of a loss tomorrow. A problem I've had for the last couple weeks is not really having any "good" food in the house to choose from. However, I went to the grocery store yesterday during my break and picked up some yogurt, apples, oranges, lettuce, celery, roast beef and bananas. So, that should help with my food options. I haven't been too consistent with the gym either. Between painful feet, hanging with friends and baby stuff, it just hasn't been easy. I honestly don't see next week being any easier too. That being said, It looks like I'll be "on vacation" from Dec 3-12. I'm really gonna do my best to kill it at the gym and get my shit in that time. Maybe I'll make it a week and a half to just bit the bullet and drop several lbs.
Anyway, that's all for now. I'm kinda tired and hungry and a little bitchy, so I should go. lol

Tue. November 13
So, at this point there's about 93 days til I would leave for Cuba.
Based on my weight this morning, that means I have 93 days to drop 16-26lbs. This may not seem like a lofty goal, but when you have poor self discipline like me, it's not gonna be so easy. 26 divided by 93 comes out to about .2lbs a day. Easier said than done when you consider you either need to cut calories and abstain from junk food and make sure that you work out enough for that whole period of time OR really cut the cals and step it up at the gym right away and have to maintain the weight loss OR really cut the cals and step it up at the gym just before I leave. I haven't decided which plan of attack I'll take.
And I've been meaning to do better every day. Like, today, I had a no carb breakfast.. then a few small pieces of chocolate (no biggie).. then had a hot dog.. then had a chimichanga and rice followed by 2 cherry cheese danishes. So ya, that's a fair representation of almost every day. :/
I think I could really benefit from some meal planning. Gonna have to spend the next couple days figuring this out and hoping I can stick to it.
Also, between my feet tattoos and babysitting, I didn't get to the gym today. Trying not too beat myself up about that though.

Wed. November 7
Feeling really tired and pretty crappy right now.
I had a bit of chocolate and candy and chips before dinner. Everyone was free in the evening, so we all went to Lone Star. I didn't really eat more than I usually would, but all the crap I ate beforehand certainly didn't help.
Right after, I had my dad drop me off at the gym and I figured I wouldn't be all that productive cuz of how I was feeling, but I did alright. On Monday night, I had another (unintentional) "crappy food" night; I got home from work at 7, intending to go to the gym later that night and for about a good hour I kinda pigged out on chips and garlic bread and noodles. I still went to the gym and decided to make it a 1000 calorie night. Basically, I didn't care how long it took, I wasn't gonna call it a night til my heart rate monitor told me I'd burned 1000 calories. And I did that in just under on hour and a half. So, I tried to make that my goal tonight. I spent my time fighting stitches in my side and trying to keep my dinner down, but I was able to burn about 935 in almost the same amount of time. Note to self: Never work out on a full stomach like that again! I'm still dealing with my stomach even as I'm lying in bed. Just taking small sips of water and trying to breathe calmly.
So, anyway, I have not been doing well at all. I've put on several-ish pounds in the last little bit. On top of that, I was basically the same weight this year for Halloween as I was last year. Fitness-wise, that's a whole fucking year down the toilet. I can't even say like I lost 20lbs and gained it back or whatever. No, I've made like no progress and I'm very disappointed in myself. That being said, I know I'm stronger physically and pretty have better lung capacity and cardio stamina, but I have no idea about body fat percentage or anything like that. As far as I can tell, I don't see any inches lost anywhere, but I dunno.
I'm gonna need to grab a calendar and figure how many days and weeks til Cuba (in mid Feb) and make a plan. At this point, I'd just like to be down 10lbs, but I'm sure if I just grit my teeth and get it done, I could be down like 20 and I would love nothing more to just strut around the resort and pool beach area in a bikini with total confidence and without a care in the world. Help me, Je-bus. lol
Ok, bedtime. Gonna try to make it to the gym before I see SUM41 downtown tomorrow night, but my main priority is to get to the bank and set up a better retirement plan that'll see me with over $1M when I retire. Good times. lol
