Tue. May 28

Just another short entry.

I sorta feel like I've thrown in the towel when it comes to my weight. I'm not like giving up and eating everything in site, but I seem to be a little better at shrugging it off lately. Especially since I know there's basically no way in hell of me dropping basically 20lbs in a week. So, I've just been focusing on how I look and feel for the most part. I'm hoping things will kinda fall into place and eventually the numbers on the scale will what I want to see.

Had a good work out last night and tonight. Ran consistently for 30 mins both nights. Hoping to get to the gym tomorrow and Thursday and then try to get a 30 min run in before work. That'd be nice. Honestly, I just need to clean up my eating and I should start seeing better results.

Fri. May 24

Not even sure what I want my opening line to be.

Ok, so, I haven't been eating great, I only got to the gym twice this week and I actually ended up with heartburn a couple times this week. That being said, I feel a little smaller. Some of my tighter clothing has been... well, not fitting fine, but noticeably less tight. I guess that really proves you can't go by the weight, you need to go by the inches. I've actually been considering only weighing myself on days when I'm feeling good physically. Not if I'm bloated or maybe had a bad binge the night before or if I'm really sore (and therefore retaining water) from the gym.

Anyway, next week I have a fairly busy work schedule, but I'll still be doing my best to work out as much as I can. Still gonna be working on my 5K endurance, lifting heavy and hoping to up my bench pressing weight soon. I've also JUST started watching The Biggest Loser from the very beginning. I'm on episode 4 of season 1 and so far, I think I can get into this. I'm still waiting for something super inspirational to jump out and bite me, but I do feel slightly more knowledgeable about weight loss and calories and all that good stuff.

Oh, and short story about yogurt being on sale this week. Was $1.99 instead of $1, but anything is better than full price. Went to my local grocery store and all they had was plain and vanilla. Barf. So, my dad offered to take me to the next closest store in that chain and see if they had more selection. They did, but only had 4 blueberry left, so I snatched those bad boys up. lol. I was really tempted to ask if they had more in the back, but we were on a bit of a time crunch, so I'll trying going back in a day or so to see if I can grab more.

Alrighty, that's all. Gonna get back to watching TBL now. : )

Wed. May 22

Gonna keep this short and sweet cuz I'm worn out.

I was finally able to (just barely) get into the next lower weight bracket that I was aiming for, but it didn't last long. The weekend wasn't good for me food-wise and that's kinda carried over into this week. I don't wanna say I've been binging (cuz I haven't really), I've just not been making good food choices for meals and snacks. So, I have put a little weight back on, but I'm trying to "pull up my socks" and really get my ass in gear. My Ke$ha meet and greet is in 2 weeks. At this point, I'd settle for just getting back into that lower weight bracket. At least I know I can do it now. That plateau felt like forever.

Anyway, I increased my squat weight by a little tonight and I did 26 mins of constant running at 4.6mph. Everything felt fine except for after a few mins, my lower left calf got really tight for some reason, but I pushed through and I'm glad I did. : )

K, that's it. Looks like yogurt is on sale at a local grocery store again. Huzzah! lol

Fri. May 17

God. Damn. -.-

Well, I've been eating pretty well and working out pretty consistently and what does my body do to repay me? Has me at a plateau for a few days and then goes up .2lbs this morning. Am I discouraged? Yes. Am I pissed and heartbroken? Yup. Did I say "F it" and have chicken fingers and poutine for breakfast? Mm hmm. Am I going to just give up for a while? Hell no. I continued with my decent eating today, I went for a run after work and now I'm just sitting, doing my nails, waiting to get sleepy and then paying for some results in the morning.

Um, I think that's all to report right now. My work schedule for next week only has me working 3 days, so I'll definitely be making it to the gym probably like 4 or 5 times. Oh, and starting to train for the breast cancer 5K in October. I started at 4.5mph for 20 mins, then 4.6mph for 21 mins, then 4.7mph for 22 mins and tonight I ran for 27 mins, but cuz it was outside, I dunno my speed. But I was consistent and actually probably could've gone for longer. : )

Ok, that really is it for now. I make no promises for the weekend, but I'll do my best. Laterz.

Tue. May 14

Today has been going pretty well so far and it's times like these that leave me worried that I'm gonna mess it up.

I weighed myself this morning and it was the same number that my friend's scale said I was on Saturday, which is awesome. I then had a good breakfast and headed over to the gym, where I burned 1003 cals in 1h33m. I came home, cleaned up and put all my workout and food info into myfitnesspal and, so far, I'm still pretty well under my calorie intake allowance. I'm just worried that since I have the day off, I'm gonna eat a bunch of bad food and ruin all my progress. Obviously, I don't want that to happen, but it sometimes feels like I can't control myself.

Anyway, there's still another several hours til I go to bed. Just gonna try to still with chicken, yogurt and water tonight. And find something to keep me occupied; either cleaning my room or taking care of my nephew. Don't wish me luck, wish me will power. lol

Mon. May 13

I have both good and bad news to report.

I guess I'll start with the bad. I know I've put on a bit of weight, but I was too chicken to get on the scale today and find out exactly how much. I shouldn't be too surprised though; I ate pretty badly on Sunday. Waffles, nachos, honey roasted peanuts, etc. I also didn't do very well on Saturday and I had a bunch of chocolate today too. And my hockey team (Toronto) is now out of the playoffs. Not overly surprised by that, but we did come pretty damn close. There's always next year.

As for the good news, I DID have a pretty good weigh in on Saturday morning. My fat percentage was down a bit. And even though I felt pretty bloated, I was able to fit nicely into a pair of my jeans on Sunday. And yogurt went on sale FOR A DOLLAR and it was the fat free kind where an entire 650g container is only 227.5 cals. Wooooooo! I picked up 8 containers and I'll probably pick up a handful more before the sale finishes. lol. So, besides the chocolate today, I would actually consider my eating today pretty good. And the batteries for my heart rate monitor came and it looks like that was what the issue was, so I got to use it again today. : ) Um, I think that's just about everything, so I'll leave it at that.

My schedule this week allows for some pretty decent gym time. I went tonight after work even though I have tomorrow off and will most likely good then. I'm gonna try to keep in mind that it's better to go to the gym whenever possible cuz there's always potentially something that could throw a wrench in your plans and then you don't end up going at all. Did that make sense? I dunno. I'm sleepy. Ok, night.

Wed. May 8

Finally got back to the gym tonight.

It felt good and the week off didn't seem to affect my strength all that much. I still wasn't able to use my heart rate monitor though. I hope the replacement batteries get here soon.

Anyway, it seems like one of the upsides to being sick is that for the first few days, I was more concerned with getting better rather than stuffing my face. After that, cuz my nose was kinda plugged up, I couldn't really taste much, so there was no point sitting around, eating sweets. I've also started keeping food and exercise diary through myfitnesspal.com. I find it's been fairly decent so far, but it's obviously not a super exact thing. I'll see how long I can keep it up for though.

Still not feeling 100% back to myself, but I'm getting there. And I'm definitely much better than I was last weekend.

Guess I'm a big slut. lol

Fri. May 3

I'm sick.

I knew it would be hard to stick to a diet on the weekend, but being sick is gonna make it that much harder. From what I can tell, it seems like the flu. I've got body aches all over, a minor headache, fatigue and, last I checked, a fever of 38.5 celsuis (101 F?). So, I've been taking a bunch of pain meds and resting as much as I can. I seem to be slightly better at the moment, but I dunno if that's cuz I'm actually getting better or the T3 I took earlier is finally working. I'll leave it at that for now so I don't overexert myself and get worse. At least I have decent timing; I don't have work again til Monday.

Wed. May 1

That's it!

I'm using all of my will power and starting tomorrow, I'm starting the FatLoss4Idiots 11 day diet. The diet claims that you can lose about 9lbs in those 11 days and I've done it before and actually had some pretty decent results. Hopefully, 2 successful cycles of this eating regiment will have me down 15 or so lbs by month end. Unfortunately, I'm not gonna go into specifics cuz I had to pay to access the website with all the info and menu planner and stuff and it's not fair to the company or me to just give their secrets away. I will say that it doesn't present itself as a no or low carn diet, but there's only one day that you're allowed to have bread. It also has you eating certain things at certain times, but otherwise, it's actually fairly healthy in terms of portion sizes and the emphasis on fruit, veggies and lean meats. It probably doesn't bode well for me to start this right before a weekend, but I'm really gonna try my darnedest.

All that being said, I actually had a pretty good workout tonight after work. Felt good, lifted heavy, was pretty flexible. I also got in several sets of squats at work. lol. And I got an email saying my heart rate monitor batteries have shipped. Thank God.

Lastly, I can't wait to get a new tattoo, but I'm not really sure what yet, but I have a ton of ideas that need to get started.

Tue. April 30

Sleepy, but blogging.

Wouldn’t weight loss just be so much easier if someone could tell you exactly what to do for the exact results you wanted? I mean, obviously, eating proper portions of healthy food at proper times and being physically active is good for you, but I sometimes feel like there are too many variables. The human body is a weird and wonderful thing. What I’m getting at is I just wish there was some way to be exact about this whole process. Some days, I eat pretty well and work out and see little to no change. Other days, I don’t work out and indulge in a little chocolate before bed and I’m down like 2lbs. What the hell? I just need/want/would love to have some psychic fitness mind reader to say “eat this specific thing, do this specific work out and you will 150% surely see this specific result you want.” Obviously, this lack of knowing is not a big enough deterrent to actually make me say “F it” and give up; it would just be a lot easier to stick to if I knew it was gonna work. Le sigh.

In other news, my heart rate monitor has been giving me really in accurate readings. I finally hypothesized that maybe it’s cuz the battery is low, but it has no way of letting me know this. So, I ordered a new set of batteries for it and hopefully they’ll get here soon and will fix the problem.

Also, I sorta tried to do a partial “low cal” day. It turns out that an entire jar of (WalMart brand) unsweetened apple sauce is only 318 cals. Just throw in a bunch of cinnamon and you’re good to go. I only ate about half of it, as well as some cucumber slices and an orange at work today for dinner and snack. Here’s hoping for results. I had a thought about how to lower the cals on the yogurt I like. A whole 650mL container is like 700+ calories. Now, if I can find a plain yogurt, with very few cals, I can just combine the 2 and then divide the mixture in half and hopefully reduce the portion calories by like… maybe 300-ish? I dunno. This is something to be experimented with, but I’m hopefully. I just need yogurt to go on sale sometime soon. C’mon summer. lol
